...A couple of weeks back my door bell rang and a fella offered to cover my soffits and facias and replace all guttering and two down pipes. You know the kind of thing,"Iwas doing a job nearby and I have all this material left over",My house is a standard two bed semi so no gable ends.I have had two quotes in the last twelve months for this work, one was £827.50, the other was £515.00.This guy said £450.00 I said no,it was more than I could afford and he asked me how much could I afford.I said £350.00 and he said ok!!.This was about 9.30am ,by 4.30pm the job was done.I'd got what I wanted,he got an extra job and alls well.Whats your best bargain buy....

Hopefully it won't all fall off next year.
That's a really refreshing story janzman as usually these kinds of story ends with some kind of unfinished or unsatisfactory scam in which you end up fleeced. Good to see it went well for you and that not all sponataneous tradesmen are cowboy scammers.

My American style 'Ice-Maiden' double fridge. 25 years ago, new price then was £399 got it for £170, the chap delivered and took my old fridge away and some other junk too - and the fridge - still looks and works like new - makes ice, got some good door width space on it (to hold gallons of milk) the salad draw keeps everything crisp and fresh, defrosts itself just needs a wipe out. All the temp guages work perfectly and the lights, (even came with spare bulbs I've never had to use!) I talk to her like she was real - my hubby says, 'who are you talking to?' 'the fridge, I just said you chill that for me love I'll be back later for it! '
sorry mercis, but for the love of god, it's a drawer, not a draw - that drives me demented!!!!!!!
sorry annie0000 :(

a couple of years ago I went to B&Q to buy a gas bbq. the manager persuaded me to buy a "real" one, by offering a large Weber model to me. it was £150 reduced to £112, and he offered me £111.50 off!

I still don't quite get what happened, but I paid 50p and left pretty sharpish :o)
