Nice place to stay in London

want to visit England early next year for two weeks,want to be at a place where its not expensive, has a kitchen/kitchenet,not a creepy area, close to some tourist spots.I have traveled extensive to the USA,CARIBBEAN,CANADA,most of the time my experiences were good,so please I ask only for genuine people, and please post address or website here for clarity, Thanks

Carry out an initial search but then use the filtering options to select 'Apartments' (while deselecting everything else).

Among the cheaper places you'll find, 'Bed In London' (176 Commercial Road, Aldgate) looks to be an interesting option. (Aldgate Tube Station is on the Circle Line and offers quick access to the all of central London's tourist attractions.

However your post suggests that you might be travelling on your own. ('Bed In London' only offers accommodation for 2 or more people). If so, check out 'All Star Private Studios'. The reviews are good, and access to central London (via the Jubilee Line) is quick and easy.

Remember that you'll be travelling to one of the world's most expensive cities for visitors (and in the year which sees that city host the Olympic Games). You won't find anything really cheap.

Absoloutely brilliant travel advice from Chris as per usual.
I would merely add that coming to London any time within 6 weeks either side of the Olympics is going to add significantly to your accommodation costs whatever type of accommodation you seek. It's a simply case of the laws of supply and demand.

Do be quite careful as well as some can be misleading. I lived in London during the weeks for work some weeks ago and my work found me what they thought was a great place with a kitchenette near the Tube in Earls Court.

I'm by no means fussy, clean and comfortable and I'm happy but it was awful, generally dirty (including sheets), smelly, damp and running water down the walls in the bathroom and the "kitchenette" was disgusting. I packed up and left the next morning.

If you do not have local knowledge then, again, checking might save you an unhappy experience. Some areas are definitely louder than others, especially at night and if you're a window open person like I am, maybe go for somewhere quieter.

Also watch the diamond rating system that seems to crop up in London, it can be misleading as it's not the same as the proper star rating system.

Are you going for general tourism or something specific? Area might help narrow things down. Aparthotels may also be worth looking into.

Sorry, meant to ask, what is your rough budget? Could make a big difference and people's idea of inexpensive differs. You could also try last minute hotel sites too nearer the time although, as others have said, if any time around a large event, especially the olympics, booking in advance would be well advised.
