Can anyone help me please I am on holiday visiting a lifelong friend in Sydney Australia I got here on the 5th of November am here for four months super but I got a bit to much sun even putting on factor 50 these past few days have been unbearable I have experienced being burnt before while sun bathing I am retired and aged 62.
Now I really need any advice anyone can give these past 3days my whole body but mostly my legs thighs and torso is on fire I don't want to scratch as I'm frightened I will end up with some sort of infection I do have the usual travel insurance but don't want to have to go to an a and e hospital but it is so uncomfortable almost bringing me to tears also. My friend has a swimming pool which is bliss but she failed to inform me that after being in the pool I should shower to get rid of the chemicals that is put into it , I don't know if this is the main factor as my stomach hasn't been exposed to the sun but it looks as if I have these little marks like a rash .
Please if there is anyone who can help knows of any solution to my pain and discomfort would be so appreciated thank you .

Expect to look like a cooked lobster and peel off lots of skin in the coming days. Once you are "peeling" STAY OUT OF THE SUN as the "fresh" skin will be more susceptible to burning.
Once you are over this apply bucket loads of sunscreen, wear a broad brimmed hat (you don't really need corks dangling from it) and cover your skin when ever possible. Avoid midday sun.
Hope you enjoy your time here.

I can only sympathise and also echo the advice from 1ozzy ....coming from the UK I doubt your skin has ever experienced sunshine like our Ozzie sun. I'm afraid sun bathing is a no no, a chemist may be able to suggest something soothing, but lashings of moisturiser and cover up with light clothing and a hat is the only way to survive.
I do hope you enjoy the rest of your stay once this is all behind you :))
