Let's be clear - the quotes now doing the rounds are from a news report TWO YEARS AGO which was SLAMMED AS INACCURATE by the BBC Trust.

The Tory spin doctors have shamefully used a terrorist attack for electoral advantage, by promoting the video through underhand 'social media' tactics.

This is the condemnation from the BBC Trust of the BBC's own lamentable journalism :

Last night Jeremy Corbyn ACTUALLY said :

"Police must have “full authority” to use “whatever force is necessary to protect and save life.”

He can make the right noises in the run up to the election, as they all do, but the truth is he doesn't agree with shoot to kill or with anything else that might kill people. He's told the world that he wouldn't 'press the button'. No 'spin' there.
If Corbyn is so bad, people shouldn't need to tell lies about him to discredit him.

He was not being asked about shoot-to-kill and insisting that he was doesn't make it so.

So it's OK for the Tory attack dogs in their spin bunker to deliberately use a terror attack as an excuse to promote a video from two years ago - which is accepted (even by the BBC) as biased and inaccurate?

Trying to get an electoral advantage from a terror attack - is that the sort of 'principled leadership' you want from a candidate to be our PM?
One of the many things I have learnt on AnswerBank is that if you shoot, you shoot to potentially kill (from Baldric). There is no such thing as 'shoot to maim'.
So if the police are not allowed to shoot to kill, there is little point in arming them at all.
Who is not allowing the police to shoot to kill, Khandro?....x
Sunny-Dave/Krom, that he doesn't believe in shoot to kill is not a lie. He doesn't.
As a general policy.

He does believe in it when it's needed in terror situations.
So SD, you are happy with JC being an IRA supporter then?
Just seen it on Daily Politics. Two years ago he was against shoot to kill.
Just watched the news conference with TM. :-(

No - I'm not, TTT - unlike some people I don't have to 'be happy' and post kneejerk defences of everything someone does.

But what about using terror attacks for cheap electoral advantage - are you happy with that?

Scooping - two years ago he was against a 'global shoot to kill policy' - but accepted that it was necessary at critical moments of a terror attack - that was conveniently 'lost in the edit' by the BBC.
Sunny-Dave, If, in the wake of the Manchester and London attacks, Jeremy Corbyn is now trying to convince us that he is in favour of shoot to kill, is that not using terror attacks for electoral advantage?
I expected to see a video in the op ... have I not spotted it?

Here's one start @ 4 minutes

Talbot - I didn't post that precisely because it is the distorted and conveniently edited *** that is doing the rounds - promoted by the Tories for a disgusting and cheap electoral shot.

And then when asked specifically about a Paris-style attack, he said the police should be able to use all necessary force.

//Trying to get an electoral advantage from a terror attack - is that the sort of 'principled leadership' you want from a candidate to be our PM?//

yes. unless it's labour seeking the advantage, SD?

Question Author
Naomi - JC has changed nothing.

He has always said that a global shoot to kill policy can be dangerous and counter-productive - BUT he has also always said that in the critical moment of a terror attack it is be necessary to use “whatever force is necessary to protect and save life.”

The BBC misrepresenting his views was wrong (and admitted to be so) in 2015 - it's even more despicable of the Tories to dig up the old interview now for cheap electoral advantage.
"but what about using terror attacks for cheap electoral advantage - are you happy with that? " - You seem to be blaming the Tories for what the media are up to, do you have any supporting evidence to support your claim?
Watch the Daily politics repeated Corbyn interview, on demand or catch up. Then tell me I'm wrong.
Question Author
Mushroom - it was by an idiot, instantly suspended - where are the Tories being suspended over this?
