Right I'm confused. Snowflakes say I can't get a gingerbread man, or write on a blackboard. Outrage this morning after some blokes lit up a model of Grenfell tower, out of order I do have to say, yet last night people with bonfires and fireworks were celebrating attempted murder by Guy Fawkes blowing up Parliament???? Did we celebrate the IRA blowing up the Brighton Hotel Tory conference, or the cold blooded murder in daylight of the female MP Jo Cox. So what's right and what's wrong. Answers please PC brigade.

We're not celebrating an attempted murder, we're celebrating the fact that a terrorist was caught and dealt with, thus protecting our democracy.

It was pointed out to me on here last week that Bonfire Night is to celebrate stopping the blowing up of parliament, that's why people make an effigy of Guy Fawkes and burn him.

You are sadly mistaken. What is celebrated on 5th November is the fact that the plot was foiled and the culprits brought to justice.

the people who post this kind of rubbish aren't imo confused (and its usually not their words, its being shared) they are just trying to make some kind of point to fulfil their own agenda and when you trace these kind of posts back to the origin they very often come from racist/fascist groups.

In all my years Bonfire Night was just an annual event that was usually just a fun time for families - always vaguely aware of who Guy Fawkes was and how it originated but never ever thought it was a night to celebrate anything and I'm sure nobody else actually thinks of the gunpowder plot and its rights or wrongs on 5th November.
