The problem with this sort of thing is that it does the opposite of what they are trying to achieve as it is very divisive.

In this day and age we should all be marching on together, regardless of race or gender.

A need? Possibly not but there may be some interesting events and some knowledge gleaned for some of us.

It has been unofficially recognised in UK since 1987, unsure if it has caused any great problems in that time.

No. And neither do we need the likes of the National Black Police Association. In the USA there is even the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People - the last two words of which one cannot nowadays say or write separately.
Everyone should be treated equally, no special pleading.
