Thje idea that someone is either gay or not gay is stupid. Sexuality is fluid, it may only be in recent years that Phillip's sexuality flowed from women to males.

Or he was confused about his sexuality when he was younger? Fell in love with a girl, married and had kids. As time wore on, he realised that he gay urges, but kept them hidden for the sake of his kids.

None of us know what has happened, and nor do you or I have any right to second guess him.

In fairness he was the campest straight man on tv. Whatever he or his family tell us, what a life time of betrayal for his wife and daughters.

I am so out of touch before any says anything as I always thought he was gay and never realised he was married.
Feel sorry for his wife and children and honestly hope he sorted it out with them first before his declaration.

When famous people grandstand with announcements like this they can expect a reaction, both positive and negative. We are all entitled to respond to public announcements.

If you think people are either gay all their life or not gay all their life then you are totally uneducated on sexuality or attraction the the ability for sexuality to be fluid.

Barry, even when announcements aren't made, people spread rumours and make stories up. What's best, put up with the gossip or try and put an end to it by making a declaration?

I am well aware of sexual fluidity, bisexuality, asexuality, gender neutrality, gender ambiguity and all the rest but Schofield hasn't claimed to be sexually fluid.

Why on earth are people saying it's a betrayal for his wife?
It's only a betrayal if she'd been totally in the dark for the whole of their marriage, and that he's lied about his sexuality, which I really doubt. I'm sure she's known, and has given him the support he needs. They may not have a physical relationship, but can still feel love for each other.

Mozz, that's exactly why he's made the announcement today. He's had no choice for any number of reasons - either somebody has threatened to out him or he is in a relationship with a man who wants it to be public.

He was married to a woman for 27 years having kids with her, and a good relationship. He 's realised he's homosexual. Does that not show fluidity? He doesn't nee to say "My sexuality has become fluid". His sexuality may not be fluid, he may be gay now and that's it. But to go from one to another shows some kind of fluidity or some kind of change.
