Bought an air freshener thing from eBay and it didn't work, so contacted the seller who sent me a returns label who someone printed for me, stuck it on the box , took it to the Post Office who said ,'We can't accept it, it doesn't have a barcode.'
Contacted the seller who said it is correct, it's the one we always use.
Contacted them again and said well the Post Office won't accept it ,so what do you suggest and they said send it back using the most economical way!
Have contacted them again and said you are not being very helpful. I'm not paying to return it as it's faulty.
Where can I go with this? Can I contact eBay about it and if so, how?

eBay are usually very helpful if you phone them. See Section 2 here:

Try a parcelpoint instead

Thanks Chris. I'm not sure what to say without it being a bit long winded.
rowanwitch sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
was it from a company or a private sale?
Question Author
Chris if you are still about, is there a phone number for eBay, I'm going round in circles trying to find the right thing to click onto.
Question Author
A private sale.
I think that's going to be your problem then Barsel. It sounds like they will give you your money back, but you have to pay for return postage, and the returns label was probably just the correct address to send it back. Re-read the original listing and see what it says about returns.
Question Author
I can't find anything at all where I can contact eBay because the seller has sent the wrong label
Question Author
Surely I shouldn't have to pay for a faulty item?
The seller described it as a pre paid label but the Post Office won't accept it.
The parcel does not go back to ebay. It goes back to the person who sold it to you. Using the link that Buenchico gave you. Look here, https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701 and see if that helps.
It may not be a Post Office label.

It might be for Hermes or other parcel service.
eBay do their best to hide their phone number. You're meant to be able to get hold of it, and the PIN to go with it, by following my link above but, like many websites, it's easy to find yourself going around in circles!

Try signing into your eBay account first and then going here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/default/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701

Then EITHER use the links to ask eBay to step in OR click 'Contact Us' at the foot of that page to access the automated help system. (If it can't work out how to answer your query, it will hand you over to a real person).
Question Author
It's a Post Office label, but an old one that they don't use anymore.
If it wasn't a Post Office label, they would have told me at the P.O.
It had the sellers name and address on but didn't have a barcode which is what they must use now.
Question Author
Ok Chris, I'll try that. Will there be someone there at this time?
To the best of my knowledge, there are staff there to handle queries 24 hours per day.
Like Tuvok says, the label may be for Hermes rather than Royal Mail why not ask them?
Cross posted.
Question Author
Thewinner see my post @ 18.50.
Question Author
Oh ok.
Question Author
Still not getting any further than them telling me the seller has sent me a label to print and I should then return the item. I need to speak to them so I can tell them the P.O won't accept it, but I really can't find what I'm looking for.
Have had enough now, will try again tomorrow.
