Valentine's Day Flowers.
22 Answers
I have just arrived home from Sainsburys. What a sad sight it was to see so many men wandering around the fresh flower department looking for the cheapest bunch of decent flowers.
The look of desperation on their faces was clear to see. There was one bloke wandering about when I went in and he was still wandering about when I'd finished my shopping and was coming out. He probably resorted to a box of Maltesers in the long run!
Mr T never buys me flowers for Valentine's Day. I forbid it! Such a waste of money in my opinion.

I prefer these flowers!

Mr. J2 doesn't buy me flowers either, or a card, come to that. He said in a horrified tone 'Oh! It's Valentine's Day tomorrow!' - about 2 hours ago. I don't think I've ever had a Valentine card from him, although once we went for a special meal.
I would also be annoyed if he paid inflated prices. I like to have some flowers in the house and I buy them, but not this week - and not around Mother's Day either!

I saw that Waitrose had nice red rose bouquets today - only £65.
(Apparently, it wasn't unusual for people to buy expensive roses and then return them three/four days later...because they hadn't lasted the "guaranteed" life that Waitrose stated ie 5 days and Waitrose could only refund the full price paid!)

I went into my city centre Sainsbury's yesterday...not a superstore...and the whole of the entry was a carpet of roses and numerable other red blooms. No one was looking or seemed interested...maybe they were by closing time. I didn't look at the prices.
While flowers are pretty, they are already dying ...I'd rather a plant any day. My daughter buys flowers...only when greatly reduced though.
