St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh on July 5th. Anybody from AB turning up to see King Charles III receive Scotland's crown jewels (the oldest in the UK) and the new Elizabeth Sword? :)

Honours of Scotland. No honour in being disrespectful and rude to an English monarch. Nothing more I would now enjoy to see Scotland kicked in the long grass and the Royal family disassociate themselves from Scotland and let them fend for themselves. Just reading the anti-English feeling on this site would make me happy to see them try to fend for themselves...

No, but thanks for the warning. Even more traffic chaos for the rest of us that day as he's wafted through courtesy of most of Police Scotland blocking every junction from the airport to his big hoose then up the hill to the church.

Even wee Humza seems caught up in it all.
So prince jug ears that waited so patiently to become king jug ears is about to be bestowed with a hat full of jewels?

Think I'll give it a miss.

But thanks for the heads up.
Minty's the nearest. Maybe she can go and represent ABers.
I won’t require being representing thanks Tilly .
Just so long as he leaves the Honours in Scotland and returns the Stone of Scone ASAP.
The Stone of Scone, you've sampled my wife's baking then.
Brave man ^^^bet Mrs D doesn’t do AB. :-)
Chas'll most likely pop in mine for a brew and a natter on his way back down the smoke.
old - but not that old 1540 - used for Mary Queen of scots
NOT a good sign

I thought they were secreted in Dunottar parish church during the republican period, but the wiki article is a bit stickly over that one

She doesn't maggie, she does a mean burnt salad though. :-)
a sword that's too fragile to use seems a little counter-intuitive, especially when going into battle, so I suppose a new one is a good idea. Perhaps Penny Mordaunt can carry it.
well King Tut ( you know the 1325 BC one) had a meteoric iron dagger, and i dont suppose used it ever.

every day objects can have ( be give) ritual significance

Tilly, I wasn't thinking of a representative :) More along the lines of those who haven't yet seen our new monarch in the flesh. Just imagined folk on holiday in Scotland who might be able to get to Edinburgh to see the King and Queen for the first time, some different sight-seeing for the children.
First ive heard of it.If i knew earlier i would be down there representing all us Scottish ABers.God Save The King.
Day seems to have gone quite well. Protesters out in force with their "Not My King" banners. Wish I could have joined them.
Question Author
Shout it, wave the banners to your heart's content.

The fact is - Charles III is our King, lol :)))
Just out of interest who is your king, maggiebee? Is it some bloke who lives in Australia? I vaguely recall reading that somewhere.
Poor bloke. He never asked for any of this. Who in their right mind would want to be born a member of the Royal family?
I think some don't want any king naomi ( but defo not an English / London one)
Its not as if his going to flog these crown jewels....its just symbolic and tradition /historical... but does seem outdated and unimportant with so much else going on
