"i know its spiting my waistline" not hers.. The thing is with that woman who i detest is she is my age and i look a lot younger than her and my hair looks healthy..i dont think she looks that good..thin yes healthy no...I dont pig out on junk food and i eat organic as much as possible but i do like treats...and if i want something i have it ..I think she is to rigid as life is for living not existing..all she wants you to eat is nuts and grains..salad ..veg and fruit..thats not very exciting..anyone else got any thoughts on it? or her?..

I agree Mullein you should have variety in your diet but not go over the top. I do think its good way for anyone who seriously needs to lose weight to do it, but for everyday healthy people it is going a bit far.

As long as your main foods are healthy a few treats wont matter

Variety is the spice of life! i know someone who tried her diet and she lost a stone in a month but she couldnt keep it up cos it was total deprivation and she put it all back on and more.

Thats why i love weight watchers so much, the variety is great and its working for me, so no mckeith for me!

I understand what she is saying but it is EXTREME, and like it or not, it is a diet, and diets don't work. I think we all know about nutrition and we all know how to lose weight. But losing weight isn't about food, it's about human behaviour. For some reason we have lost our body signals, which tell us when we are hungry and when we are full. Plus if we eat foods that are high in sugar and fat, it messes with our metabolism/blood sugar etc.

We all KNOW we should be eating fruit and veg, and not much meat, and avoid caffeine, alcohol and sugar, (except in fruit) but as you say, life is for living!

Also I worry about Michelle McManus! Yes she is losing weight fast, by eating hedgerows and algae, but what happens when she stops eating this way, or she realises that even though she is thinner, she is not gonna have another hit record (sorry, but she's not!)? She will go back to her old habits. You can't be "on a roll" forever!
She is a food fascist!
I dont know who i despise more - her or the ignorant larda**es she is preaching to.
The telling point was when she points to some poor womans spot in the street and claims its because she eats chocolate and a low quick voiceover (in the style of those dodgy money lending ads) added "but a demotologist may not agree" implying that some of what she says is opinion and not fact.

She's a quack, with no accredited medical or health related qualifications whatsoever.

Basically there's no sound evidence for Detoxing and it may even be dangerous

I dislike McKeith with a passion!

she thinks we are MICE as thats what they eat grains and nuts...I did notice last night she kept saying SOME ready meals are unhealthy as though someone has complained about her comments in the past..As scarlett said we all know what we should be eating but the occasional treat wont hurt us...last night she was over the top big time..its not possible to live on that stuff every day you need some fats in your body and she eliminated all of them..I cant see what is wrong with cheese ..butter and milk as they are all natural products..and lashings of double cream...how nice..yum yum..much more appealing than a plate of pumpkin seeds....

I can't stand her either, but I have to point out that she does have accredited qualifications. She has a PhD in Nutrition from an American university. So she *IS* entitled to be called Doctor (although I agree it's misleading as that title is usually reserved for medically qualified people).

What I don't get with her is inspecting people's poo.

I can't stand her either and I'm not even overweight! Some of the meals take hours to prepare- wasn't there one where you had to cook pulses the night before or something? Get a life! I also hate the voice-over chappie and when he says things like "Gillian thinks so and so may have thrush" God if I have thrush I know it, I don't need someone else to tell me!

I think she is arrogant and pushy, and when I saw her on GMTVthe other morning,I really felt for the person interviewing her,she seems to have no scruples --other than her own--.;also as previously mentioned, she is not a very good advert for her theory's, she looks rather haggard for her age .

If you eat sensibly you shouldn't come to any harm and besides,"a little of what you fancy does you good"

I think we get a bit of a skewed view as she is always working with hopless cases and I think with them the only way is, at least initially, very regimented. This is to let them see some results before they slip back into old habits. I mean have you seen some of the cases, the ones that I find sad are the ones where the parents are passing on thier habits to the kids. aaaarrrrgggghh.

Nutritionists like her generally will say that you can have the occasional blow out but just don't make it a life style choice.

I agree about the gunge she tries to peddle but you could do a lot worse than avoid the top 12 and I think that was the main aim of the program.

Anyway of the top 12, I don't think any where unreasonable. It is totally unnesseary to add salt, eat white bread, smoke, drink too much etc etc. Most of the 12 I don't do anyway.

ursula - she has a Phd which she got via a correspondence course from a non-accredited American college.

I think she has a fetish for poo

Yes she is OTT but if she can help people like Michelle Mcmanus and those other misguided people to lose weight and be healthy then well done her. These people need someone like her, strong willed and persistant to help them see reality. I regularly eat cakes and occasionally eat crisps and chips and I am not fat. So it isnt what you eat that makes you fat its how much. I know its more healthy but as others have said a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

those people that are over weight do not have a little of what they fancy ,they have a lot of what they fancy all the time .Diets are a waste of time,it is about eating the correct food all the time to get the right vitamins and protiens.

It is only her view, salad nuts friut are all excellent foods and much cheaper than burgers etc
