Be honest.  How many of you dust?

I have a cleaner now, but admit I hardly ever dusted.

In fact I hardly ever did much housework but did the jobs that involved hygiene.

Animals, a house with beams and a woodburner and an untidy husband .  Why bother.?

There are surfaces in my house that haven't been dusted for over 30 years!

However I do dust things on my desk (and in a few other places too).  Indeed, I dusted the top of my transceiver (as well as the area around it) only a few minutes before reading your post .

Didn't Quentin Crisp say, 'There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.'

I dust just a few times a year. Usually before Christmas when I'm expecting visitors and putting a few bits around. Again in the spring when the sun shines through the windows and  highlights the worst bits! Then again maybe sometime in the summer or autumn when it starts to get me down.

I clean bathroom and kitchen regularly but the rest of it is a rarity indeed.

Interesting! I have a house that is south-facing and so the second the sun makes an appearance, even in winter, it illuminates every spec of dust on every surface! Mainly the lounge. So the lounge is dusted as soon as I can see it, the bathroom is dusted and generally cleaned form head to toe weekly, the kitchen worktops are obv wiped down weekly.   Bedrooms again as soon as I see dust it's wiped.

Rarely. Usually at the onset of Spring, or thereabouts.

Can do so at other times if something looks noticably dusty.

I was in my home for about 11 years before I saw a window cleaner working next door.  My windows were so mucky he charged double to clean them.

He calls once a month now.  To be honest I don't see much difference.

Dusting and polishing once every two weeks, pc and tv weekly

bathroom twice a week with once a deeper clean

Kitchen daily wipe down, units weekly, oven once every two months - actually a job for this week, I do put down alu-foil to help catch some of the fat....

Check the walls weekly for cobwebs and if there is any 'dew' - what with the mizzle that we have down here. Windows done by every two months.

My cleaner is lovely, but she was keen on looking for cobwebs and, to my horror killed the spiders.  Because of it being a very old building and beamed there were many cobwebs.  We have now come to an arrangement.  She can get rid of their webs but spider killing is not allowed.

DTC.  If my cleaner leaves I will offer you a Job.  Mr Lottie is very good at cooking and clearing up, sorting out all the washing etc. Hoovering.   But I don't think he knows what a duster is.  Probably because I've rarely used one.

As for windows, we turn a blind eye.  They probably get cleaned about once a year.

I dust several times a week. Housework done thoroughly, weekly.

Always been houseproud..intend to remain so as long as I can.

I must admit that I'm much more comfortable in the homes of those that are not houseproud and don't mind some clutter.  They feel more homely to me.

Our house is 17th Century with open fires.  I am constantly just moving 400 years' worth of house, animal and human debris around.

My view is generally, if you must write in the dust, please do not date it.

Ha ha Barmaid,

This old bird.  Our posts were simultaneous.  I wasn't getting at you for being houseproud.  We are all different.

I remember my grandmother going round my aunts house writing dust me with her finger on all the surfaces.  Funny really because I never witnessed my Nan doing much housework.  She was always  busy  working in their greengrocers  shop or gallivanting around having a good time.    I loved being with her.

I do a big clean up...ie dust...when visitors are coming. Usually daughter. Regular tidying is done as and when I can manage it. Stiff back and knees have made it difficult lately. Windows...difficult when 3-4 floors up. Had a regular window cleaner when I was working...they did all the windows for the block. But were rubbish...drips everywhere. So I stopped them doing mine.

Back to dusting...I'm always shocked at how dusty the bathroom can get virtually over night....particularly if I've been showering my plants in there.

Barsel  - The wonderful and sadly missed Mr Crisp - a friend of mine  - did indeed say that after four years, the dust didn't get any worse  - it was just a matter if holding your nerve.

Wonderful!

While I typed the above...my shallots burned #$%#@##

There's crispy ...and theres crispy! 😐😮

Just a bit of carbon to add to the dust, Pasta.

I'll scrape it off...one day.

I do something housewifey every day. I spend about an hour doing what needs to be done, then I stop and enjoy the rest of my day guilt free.

I only dust when the husband and kids write rude words in it.
