Holiday in Croatia

We are a couple (late 50's) who are planning to go to Croatia in June/July for two weeks. We would like a two centre holiday. We are not beach/pool people. We thought we would like to see Durbrovnic and maybe an island. Has anybody been who would have some recommendations i.e. resorts that are particularly nice, accommodation options or travel companies that were good etc. Any suggestions welcomed.

I was in Dubrovnik over Christmas, staying at the excellent Hotel Kompas, which is located in the suburb of Lapad, a short bus ride from the old walled city.
There are good local bus services into the old city, and to places like Cavtat where there are pleasant strolls around the two peninsulas.
The Elafiti islands of Kolocep, Sipan and Lopud are easily reached by excursions which run daily in season, and this trip is highly recommended.
If you like walking, could I suggest you get the Ramblers Holidays brochure 01707 331133; they feature a week in Dubrovnik and a separate week in Split (see page 81).
