And as for the weather - it only adds to the London experience! - I love this city!!!!!!
(other cities are available)
Also from South Africa but live in the UK now and have done for the last 4 years. From Cape Town though. Any questions you might want to know about getting over or what difficulties you might run in to then let me know. The uk isa great place to visit, if not to live. Remember though, there is much more to the UK than just London so be sure to explore elswhere too. I live in the Lakes (Cumbria) which I find stunning. Have you been to Knysna? Well the Lakes are similar except without the Lagoon, ratherit has lots of Lakes and mountains. I am sure many would agree it's well worth the visit.
You would be surprised how many South African currently work over here, so dont be worried about meeting people!
Thanks everyone! It nice to know that there is so many people who care.I will make sure to vissit all of the places and more.
Adampy,I heard that it is very nurvewrecking to get out of a plane in a diferent country. What does it feel like? And what do u do once u get out of the airport.I dont know what its like because I never set foot on a airplane before.I only traveled by car in SA.Im planning to get a job for a few months and then return to my home.Any more info welcome! Thanks Again!!
Wow never been on a plane? Well it's a long flight so I am sure you will have had enough of flying by the time you land.
It is pretty scary when you get out and into the airport. But don't stress, if you get stuck just ask, belieive me, the people here are alot friendlier than in SA. It's really easy to find your way around the airports. Not sure which one you would come into, Either Heathrow or Manchester. If you flyy SAA then it will be Heathrow. Customs is okay although the lines can be really long, so be prepared to wait in line.
Once you geth through the tube runs from the airport into London centre. From there you can get anywhere relativly easily. If you wanted to head up the West coast - say to the Lakes or Glasgow, Scotland then you will want to get to Euston Trai Station. The earlier you book your ticket the cheaper it is. www.virgintrains.co.uk
I could go on forever telling you how to get about but a few key websites to look at is:
London underground: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/
Trains: www.virgintrains.co.uk
Just remember that if you only wanted to come over for a few months, your Two Year visa will continue to run it's time and you might battle to get another one once it has expired.
Let me know if you need more specific info
Goodluck
