Tracking devices
Hi
My friend tells me that the company he works for has tracking devices on the vans so that they can be tracked internally via computer. Does anyone know what the actual tracking device is and where they are fitted please. We assume them to be magnetic and fitted under the bonnet. Also can the same be done with mobile phones as I seem to recall someone once saying that he kept track on his drivers like this.
Many thanks in advance.

If they wanted to, by comparing your phones signal from 3 of their base station and the use of triangulation they can see where you are.
In the UK there are already companies who will track phones for you to locate people to within seconds.
The idea is to track down the vehicule and not the driver and it's mainly for hired cars, lorries, vans etc You hire out a car; you want to know where it is... a taxi service wants to know where their men are...
The device can be put wherever you want it in the vehicule. Unfortunately, there'll come a time when the credit cards in our wallets will be traced so we'll be followed so easily. ... we're already traced on what we buy by credit card! Big brother.....
A few years ago one of our drivers was asked by the Transport manager "Bill, why did you do 4mph for an hour last Wednesday?" Bill said, "don't ask me. Ask the Ferry captain, I was going to the Isle Of Man".
On lorries they are generally fitted above the radio, above the drivers head. This is the only place to get 12 volt on a lorry. c Sender can be fitted on cab roof.
