my step-daughter (19) is always telling lies (not small ones) big major ones that are affecting my relationship with her father... any advice?

Is she a pathelogical lier? Or is she just doing this because she doesn't want you to be with her father?

If she is a pathelogical lier, than she needs to see someone and get it taken care of now. That's no way to live life.

If it's her attitude, then the father needs to sit her down and have a serious talk. Maybe even threaten her a tad, stop paying for things, or tell her she won't be wanted around if the only thing that comes out of her mouth are lies.

That is a terrible way to be. Lieing is one of my biggest pet peives. You can't have any type of relationship with someone if they lie. What kind of things does she lie about?

Play her at her own game - not a positive move but show her you know her lies...

hang in there with your husband - you married him not the children and at 19 she should know better..

At 19 she's really never going to change - unless she is extremely immature - it is difficult but you and your husband must stick together and treat her lies with indifference - when she doesn't get the attention she thinks she deserves - maybe she will grow up!
