Please can you confirm. I am going on holiday to Tenerife on 18th July 2006 for 1 week. I return 25th July. My passport runs out on 30th August 2006. Will this be valid to use entering and returning.
Thanks

You would be best to contact the Pasport Authorities directly for peace of mind.

it'll be fine for returning - it's valid in Britain, after all, and the Spanish won't mind you leaving. (You are talking about Britain?) Whether they'll let you in in the first place is another matter, but as far as I know they always do; their concern is with people who might overstay and become illegals, but that's unlikely to be a problem with visistors from another EU country.
yes you will be fine - I returned from prague last year with one day left on my passport!

outside of the EU you need to have 6 months remaining on it, but inside the EU you are fine.

enjoy your holiday!
Tenerife isn't in the EU is it?
Tenrife is part of Spain. Last time I looked Spain was in the EU.
Tenerife is politically in the EU, but I think not for customs purposes, so you can bring back duty-free goods.
Well you learn something new every day don't ya! I always thought it was classed as Africa or something cause its near there!
For some bizarre reason the Canaries, although part of Spain, are indeed a duty-free area. I can't quite see how that works - a bit like declaring The Isle of Wight duty-free - but no doubt the Spaniards, like most of our European brethren, simply ignore the EU directives regarding dutiable goods........
