This has been answered many times on AB. KGB is the abbreviation for Komitet Gosudarstvennoi Bezopasnosti (State Security Committee to you and I) which is the Soviet secret police, since 1954. I know this is off-topic and probably not the KGB you're after but this was also the name of a 70s US 'supergroup' which floundered critically and commerciallly, despite boasting some pretty big names: Camine Appice (drums, vocals - ex Jeff Beck, Vanilla Fudge) Mike Bloomfield (guitar - ex Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Dylan, Electric Flag, Super Session, ) Barry Goldberg (keyboards, vocals - ex Electric Flag, solo); Rick Grech (bass - ex Family, Traffic, Gram Parsons and Blind Faith, the original supergroup), and Ray Kennedy - vocals (West Coast sessioner).
