Would it be Sunderland football stadium?? I think it is
Stadium of Light my sons just informed me!!
The Stadium of Light is about 9 miles from the Angel, (as the angel flies)
Did you see a sports field, or a set of floodlights? There's a rail marshalling yard on the other side, but set right down in the valley.
The SoL and the Angel are on the same side of the A1.
It could be the Gateshead International Stadium

Gateshead play there, funnily enough.

They're in the Unibond Premier Division
Sorry, but Gateshead Stadium is miles away from the Angel too!!

There is no stadium or any other sports field opposite the Angel - but it could've been the railway as has already been suggested - the only football pitch nearby is in a local park but doesn't have any lights or any other features that you could see from the road, it is also on the same side of the road as the Angel

Hope this helps

I'm with dipee on this one. I believe it's a rail yard.
