I suppose the people of Nottingham don't really care what they are called now, but I bet they're relieved not to be called 'Snots' any more.

Not sure which part you're from or how long you've been there, 4getmenot but having spent my formative years in Norwich I can assure you that Norfolkman's a perfectly valid description. Trust me, that ent a load of ole squit!
Taking slight issue with one of dot's replies, they're definitely Men and Maids of Kent on the side of the Medway where I live now. The only other ones I can think of off the top of my head is Salopian for somebody from Shropshire and Hampshire Hogs.
As for natalie_1982, I reckon you're an Oxonian. I'm fairly sure it applies to the county and the city though I may well be wrong on that one.
People from Nottinghamshire? Simple answer if you've ever spent more than ten minutes there - Ducks. ;-)

I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue:
"Nottingham is a fine city with a fascinating history. It's well documented in official records that the city's original name was 'Snottingham', or 'Home of Snots', but when the Normans came, they couldn't pronounce the letter 'S', so decreed the town be called 'Nottingham' or the 'Home of Notts'. It's easy to understand why this change was resisted so fiercely by the people of Scunthorpe."
I guess they are now called Notts.

well, i live in nottingham (not born there though) so since osprey first asked the question this morning , i've been out & about asking all the local born nottingham people (who i know) what they're known as, had a lot of laughs & a lot of them said what lodekka said " ducks" ;-) (as in the local way of saying hello - 'ey up me duck) but seriously most of them admitted they didn't know themselves, & the majority of them said they class thereselves as midlanders. lol @ whiffeys "boots", :-)
nats, you are an Oxfordian (an epoch of the Upper Jurassic (as are people from Kimmeridge in Dorset - or Kimmeridgians)
Moving to the Middle Jurassic, you have your Bathonians (from Bath).
Devonians, of course, have a whole era named after them.
As do us Welsh with the Cambrian, after Cambria, the Latin for Wales.
Although Eras are divided into Upper - Middle - Lower, and Epochs are divided into Late - Middle - Early; there is no truth in the rumour that the Late Norian epoch was named after a certain League One football team that play at Brisbane Road, E10.
