re the photo of the empire state building dated 1931?

why is the world trade centre featured in the background?
have i missed something?

-- answer removed --
no you can see both the north and south towers
fuggy, if you read the small print (lol) under the picture it states that the photo is 1990-2006 by the photographer or Artifice...

As tonyted says, ESB was built/finished 1931 designed by the names mentioned...

Looking at the photo of Mahattan, you can see how modern it looks...
Yes, fuggy, but the caption says the ESB was finished in 1931, not that the picture was taken in 1931...........
Snap, n00dles! your answer still hadn't appeared when I submitted mine!
The Empire State Building was designed by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon and was constructed in 14 months in the period 1930 - 1931.
if it's near the southern tip of Manhattan, might be this one, which used to be the tallest in town:

PS here's that Empire State building view now, taken by me earlier this year. No WTC.

I suppose the Chrysler Building looks like a pencil, with the hub cap effect at the top going into a 'point'
Hi Narolines,

Don't ya just hate it when that happens? Lol

jno, what a fabulous piccy (yours)!!

thank you n00dles... it's from the top of the Rockefeller centre, which is now open after years of being closed. It's between the Empire State building and Central Park and has fabulous views of both, but is a long way from the Statue of Liberty (which you can just make out as a vertical object on a horizontal island at the upper right side of the pic - clearer if you look at it full size; also visible in YvonneM's pic).
