the correct term is first cousin once removed

Your children will be second cousins to your cousins children, whereas in the first instance gfm is corect.

However, we have always called our's 'second cousins' as it is more familial and easier to explain.

You > cousin = First cousin
You > cousins child = first cousin once removed
Your child > cousins child = second cousin
