Postcodes

Where can I obtain the knowledge of Postcodes in the UK I have tried to google it but I'm drawing a blank Can any one help? Thankyou

What exactly do you mean ?

Do you want to know every postcode in the UK and where it relates to ? That would be nigh on impossible!

The Royal Mail sell printed copies of the postcode lists - or used to anyway. They will be in your local reference library.

Hi I didn't mean every post code in BRITAIN why would I need that?? ha ha sorry i didn't make my self clear what I meant was is there a website that can narrow down streets for example if you put the town and street name it would then come up with the postcode I have tried Royal Mail free postcode address and they don't give out every postcode not sure why I know I'm cluching at straws but thanks for the interest.

Most postcode finders use data supplied by Royal Mail,so if they haven't got it, nobody will.

I must admit it has never let me down yet.

In what areas of the UK are you not able to get the postcode?

I would imagine that if the Royal Mail site is not giving you the postcode then either the address doesn't exist or you are spelling it wrong.

I thought you were training to be the taxi driver equivelent of postcodes - asking about "the knowledge "of them !! LOL I don't know why you would want to know about all postcodes - it's just the way your question was leaning.

The thing is poscodes are specific to properties - sometimes properties share the same poscode. I know the royal mail give you the postcode for an address if you have the number and street name and know which town or city etc the address is in. I know that on Google earth and Virtual earth and the free maps - if you put a postcode in it will pinpoint where the centre of that postcode is. Often if you google a street name and town - a few addresses come up and you can sometimes find a postcode that way.

If you post exactly which address or street you need - I'm sure there are a couple of people on here who can help.

opps what I didn't say is Shirl38 is my mum and I was using her computer and name but I still got the post code thanks xxx
