What happened

when some of the regs on Answerbank met up for a drink one time? I read a comment in an old thread from the editor warning people if they met for a beer to be careful and remember what happened last time - that it led to considerable animosity and abuse on the site.

Those who turned up had a great time. Prior to the meet-up, however, there was somebody (who did not go to the meet-up) who offended people who were planning to go. He posted nasty messages on this site and got angry replies, resulting in a battleground.

one of them said yes, the other said no and the third just stayed out of it-what an arguement! the three of them had a good time in the end though and are now living together and practicing bigamy. (supposedly)

thanks for the info, jjf2003. I was thinking what a nice community this is, how it's about intelligent, fun people sharing knowledge and experience rather than the kind of saddo geeks you get joining Star Trek groups online because they can't relate to people in real life. I don't want to be judgemental of those people, but I used to work closely with people like that and they really are like a different species. So I was a bit disappointed when I read that the meet up had been a disaster. Very glad to hear it went well, will be tempted to go to one myself should the opportunity ever arise again.
