Hello all. Just wondering what all you lovely ABers do for a living ... also, what is the thing you like most about it and the one thing you'd most like to change?
I am an evil property developer. I like making homes for people (we customise each house to the buyers requirements) and would most like to change some Planning Departments and Conservation Officers so that thay all have a good dose of common sense.
I am by profession a tax consultant, but I couldn't face returning to the profession after the births of my children. After a long stint doing voluntary work as a Samaritan, I now do support work for asylum seekers - for which I do get paid. There is very little I would change about it, I get to meet fabulous people, plus as it's at a college I get to spend all the school holidays with my kids. The one thing I would change is that the college management might have a better understanding of the problems faced by my clients, and therefore allocate a few more resources (we can dream).
Legal Editor. The thing I like most is spending most of my working day on answerbank. The one thing I'd like to change is that I've just been made redundant.
I'm a Database Administrator or at least I pretend to be... Best thing is the flexi time. I'd like to change the salary and the fact that I'm not really doing something I'm passionate about!
My 'proper' job is working for BT, and I like best the free internet and phone connections at work, and the lack of pressure. I'd like to do something more interesting. In my 'spare' time, i write for music magazines, interviewing pop stars, at the moment i write regulalry for 'Drummer' Magazine, and if i could change anything, I'd make musicians more accessable via their press officers.
I'm only 16 so I work with my Dad doing small stuff like finaces, putting stuff on his website (he owns his own business) and doing invoices. Boring, but its money and its only til I start sixth form.
Technical Writer/Editor (IT) for a digital TV company. Like the people, the casual dress code, flexitime etc. Don't like that fact that the technology advances on a daily basis and therefore my work is never, ever done...
Graphic designer (isn't everyone these days? hehe) at a Uni in the south east of England.
Best bit..hmm... lots of eye candy for the average discerning lech... worst bit.. we don't get the long holidays that the teaching staff do.. :(...
I'm a BT customer service engineer.
I like the total variety of the job, fitting a phone line in an extremely muddy building site, one job and repairing a phone line in a penthouse the next. It never seems to be the other way round!
The one thing I would like to change is the 150 answering machine and replace it with humans. Its the biggest single thing most customers complain about.
