Age gaps

Does age really matter in relationships? If I were to get involved with a man 10 years older than me its ok but if he's 10 years younger then its wrong apparently! Any comments?

I'd hazard a guess and say women generally go for older men. Whether that's a maturity/experience/money thing or social engineering from a young age, I don't know.
I guess it's all down to social standards and whether you worry about what other people think.
I have banged on about this previously - it's a cliched attitude which hopefully is dying out. It belongs in a similar catagory to - man who has various partners = stud, woman who does the same = tart. I always think that people who comment on age difference should be confronted with the question "And your point is?" They usually shut up!
Not wrong at all! I've had more than one relationship with men more than 10 years younger. Shock horror! They lasted a couple of years, I never expected it to last forever, but we parted amicably & are still friends years later. Incidently, it was shared interests that drew us together & not the lack of them that led us to part.
I think an age gap of 5 years might be a big difference to a 21 year old but not to a 30 year old. By the time we get to 30 maybe we already have it in our heads that age differences are a problem.
Another thing is that the "baby" of the relationship may be seen as inexperienced and prone to being taken advantage of. This way, it may be that if you're seeing an older partner it is OK but not a younger one.
Then again, maybe we (as humans) just look for differences between "us" and "them" in general - in this case, "them" is anyone of a different age group. Isn't that why prejudice & bigotry exists - because so many of us see problems and differences rather than enjoying the variety of ages, races, religions, cultures etc?
That was a bit deep for me. I'm off for a lie down.
