it is designed to go on the face after shaving.
Yes indeed. Aftershave is not perfume. It is designed to soothe the skin and make it feel comfortable after shaving. The (hopefully) nice smell is a bonus.
i think it is intended more for the neck/under chin area than the face.
As already mentioned here, after shave is to soothe the skin after shaving, not to be confused with cologne which one would wear as a perfume.
well i read in some men's mag that you shouldn't apply it to the face because you've just stripped all the skin's oils away so the last thing you want to do is dehydrate it further by sticking alcohol on there
I wear aftershave daily, but being possessed of wimp's skin, I don't apply it after shaving - it's too painful, and I shave at night to give my skin a chance to recover. I saw Michael Douglas apply aftershave to his forehead in a film, and have done the same since. I also dab a little on my collar bones before I put my shirt on - helps the scent to linger a little longer.
