How do the police know who is your next of kin? From what I know I only have next of kin on work records and in my passport.

The advice is to have an ICE in your mobile. This is the person who'd you'd like to be called In Case of Emergency, listed simply as ICE for the name with the appropriate phone number. They just click on it on your phone and ring. I have ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 just to be safe! Otherwise they might automatcally chose Mum and she wouldn't cope at all!

I only ask because lastnight my friends ex boyfriend killed himself and she was rang this morning as his next of kin and she had to tell his family, seems bit wrong to me. This is why ID cards would be good so details can be kept on a database somewhere. Maybe its because she was last person he txt.
all a bit strange really, she lived with him a while ago and he treated her like crap, I didnt even know they were still in contact, he got engaged and she cheated on him so my mate had been there for him to confort him over past few months, she told me she left him last night and then had a message saying he couldnt do it anymore and sorry, she just thought he meant them. And yes anne why?
