Following on from another thread, I see so many anti Scottish comments, Ive always been aware of a little friction between England Scotland and Wales but I didn't realise it was quite so obvious.

I think that you'll find the 'anti- whatever' sentiment whenever there is a minority. On here Scots are in a minority and so the anti Scottish sentiments are more obvious because they are expressed from the majority (by that I mean English people on this site, who are in the majority - not that the majority are anti Scots if that makes any sense). In cases where English people have found themselves on the receiving end of anti English sentiment they have been in another country and in the minority. Always having lived in Scotland, I have been quite surprised at some of the comments I have heard on here - but I suppose if it was a Scottish site there may well be more anti English comments.
I like a bit of banter with steg about the Scots but I can't say I actually hate any nation of people (although I'm not keen on Italians). I have English, Irish, and Scottish in my family tree so I don't knock the ancestors.
Lol Craft, as a Scottish/Italian we may not get on then! ;-)

sorry vodka..............it all stems from an unpleasant incident with a bunch of Italians at Tunis airport.
I'm Scottish and I hate the English so much that I married one, just to make his life Hell! We now live on the Welsh border! (Love him really!)
The funny thing is Bernanrd, I don't thinkScotland DO want independance...it's just there is no-one else to vote for!
I haven't known enough English or Scots to make any sort of call. The ones I've met in different places seem fine with ganging up on America. I always get the feeling I'm being carefully watched in case I do something crazy.
Nobody hates us Scots - maybe they are jealous of us. ;-)

Ratter - I know that this is a serious topic but to me it is a non-issue. I don't hate anyone - life is too short to get angry and upset over something over which you have no control.

There are nice people everywhere in the world.

But I much prefer non-humans.

That's really funny. I hope it wasn't abusive.
If you look at all of his lines over the years he's quite a deep thinker. Some people make snap judgements because he's a janitor but somebody has to sweep the floors.
I think that Scots have the ability to make jokes at their own expense - we also go to major sporting events with the knowledge that if we were to win then a true miracle would have occurred.
It was ok, I got my own back cos the ringleader looked like the young guy in Sound of Music who joins the Hitler Youth. Everytime he said anything I'd just start singing 'you are sixteen going on seventeen' :)
'we also go to major sporting events'

Long memory you've got there wolf
I got buttonholed once and heard how I ruined the economy in Britain by the Lend/lease program instead of coming and actually doing something.
joeluke was it 1978? My mum's friend had a lawn with Wembley turf in it.
Well Cowtipper, you really should have got the whole thing sorted out by yourself you know ;)
I nearly did but was narrowly defeated in my effort to become Emperor so society's ills remain. It went a lot like this conversation, except I don't skate.

I have to have a say here. We Welsh folk in the North of Wales DON'T all hate the English. However there is amongst us a hardcore of Welsh Nationalists, who for whatever reason DO hate the English for past slights??? For that matter they hate me too, because I'm a non-Welsh speaker - heaven forbid. Do you realise that it is INCREDIBLY dificult to get a decent job in our area if you don't speak Welsh. There are arguments of course that it is Wales and Welsh is their language but just 20 miles up the road it's absolutely no use to man nor beast. Thousands and thousands of pounds are spent on translations and bi-lingualism. Imagine printing costs for any business and then double them - the costs are phenomenal. Welsh TV (S4C) is the most expensive channel in the world to run and about 5 people each it (well OK I exaggerate). The same people moan about the youngsters not affording houses and no jobs and they have to move away. I'd like them to put ther passion into welcoming new businesses here not driving them away - we desperately need the jobs here. Sorry - rant over. I'll probably get a brick through the window tonight if anyone knows it's me ad where I live.
my observation on AB. english moan about their country much more than the scottish/welsh/irish . its called passion :) :) :)
