we have recently had dual band wifi installed so we can use laptops around the house, however since we have done this our pc (which is a wired connection) has slowed dramatically and the wireless keyboard is allowing 1 word per minute to be typed. We have had a warning saying something is wrong with the hard drive however I cannot find a problem and other than this the computer works fine. Windows seems to do an update every night but never seems to complete, has anyone any ideas?
you should try to reconfigure your router on to a different wavelength as you may have a conflict between the devices, also make sure that whatever adapter you are receiving the signal of is capable of receiving a dual band signal. otherwise this could slow it up.
It can cause the computer to run slowly, to test the difference, disconnect from the internet and see if the speed improves using non internet programs.
if it speeds up then it is the network slowing it down, make sure you have done all your wndows updates and firmware update for the router.
Ive tried disconnecting the wifi altogether and using wired broadband which seems to solve some of the problems but we need wifi, the assistant said it wouldnt affect it
it could be that the internet is sharing its speed between all the connected computers and if you are not getting a fast broadband speed, it could be slowing things up, have you tried a speed test?
Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disc Management.
Open that and look at LHS in the Disc listings blocks ... Disc1, etc.
Any descriptions in them APART from 'Online'?
Hi I have sorted the keyboard problem, however, if I go into the control panel i cannot see any of the options you have listed. Also I have noticed that windows tries to do an update each night which I believe is not completing properly, is there anyway I can force this update?
I have sorted the keyboard and the internet seems to be a lot better, the only issue now is the windows updates which have not installed even after manually trying to do it. There is no mention of the error codes on windows help either
