Immigrant behaviour leessons

Should would-be immigrants be given a mandatory course of how to behave in the UK before being allowed access (at their own expense)? It seems that activities and attitudes that are ok in Poland, Pakistan or Somalia cannot be simply brought to this multi-cultural island. If the British people have to show respect, shouldn't everyone else? This doesn't apply to all immigrants I know, but if show that they know how to behave then they won't need to take the course. I think it is a great idea. Activities such as driving etiquette and looting could be addressed.

After the 'feral youth' on our own sink estates had been signed up, would there be many places left for 'incomers'?

We could recruit newly-passed immigrants to train the feral youth of our poorer estates. Thus creating jobs and harmony.

I don't think looting is accepted in any cultures is it? And with those two examples I think there is the argument that they need to be taught to many many people who were born in Britain too!

Spitting for one.

I live in Birmingham with many immigrants, and I am forever walking past people who spit on the ground.

One Asian guy was walking towards me the other week and was just a few yards from me, and bent his head down and spat on the ground. I mumbled under my breath as I walked past "disgusting b*stard".

I am not saying "white English" people dont spit, but it is far more common amongst people from some countries.

nonetheless, if you're going to ban spitting you have to ban it for everyone.

If you're not going to ban it, then anyone can spit.

Not insuring you car is another.

Recently a list of places with high non car insurance was published, and many were in Birmingham.

Some areas were as high as 30% of cars not insured, and all of them were well known immigrant / Asian areas in Birmingham.

Other immigrant areas in other cities like Bradford were also high.

Again I am not saying some "white English" people dont insure their car, but I bet no "white" area has figures as high as 30%

i saw a premiership football match on telly last week - can't remember which, and it showed the linesman spitting. he was white and definitely didn't look feral or foreign. he was wearing black though, is that immoral behaviour ?

"Parking your car where you like" is another.

I know many (of all types) people park their cars in "bad" places or on pavements, but as we are getting more and more "immigrants" in my area the "bad" parking is getting alarming.

Parking ON pavements outside shops, on zebra crossings, on dangerous corners etc etc.

Some of the bad parking needs to be seem to be believed.

VHG, believe me, plenty of little scallies around here spit all the time and they're not immigrants. How do you know it's acceptable in other countries, I know in a some countries spitting at/towards someone is seen as the ultimate show of disrespect! It's possibly more accepted here!

Spitting by "sportmen" on a grass pitch can be excused (though I think for many footballers it has got out of hand).

Ths is somewhat different from spitting at my feet while walking down a high st (as the example above about the Asian guy).

I walked past the BullRing shoping centre a few weeks ago, and there were a dozen or so Asian guys hanging about near a railing. I saw a number of them lean over the railing and spit on the pavement, whole many shoppers were walking past.

Unless you live in an area where these sort of things go on you have no idea how awful it is, to see an area dragged down by the arrival of many immigrants.

having an uninsured car isn't a matter of "behaviour", it's against the law. Why not just prosecute offenders?

Anyway how can we ever get organized enough to "teach" immigrants how to behave when we cant even keep track of the illegal ones that are here.

On the BBC web site this morning it says there are 125,000 immigrants that have "gone missing" that the UK Border agentcy are supposed to keep track of.

And that does not include the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants we dont even know about as they came in in the back of lorries etc.

We have totally lost control of our borders and the country is suffering as a result

we haven't totally lost control of our borders. We have a border agency, but it isn't doing its job. Sort it out. Teaching immigrants to behave nicely isn't going to solve this.

I think it IS a behaviour (as well as the law).

I think "most" white English people buy a car and expect to tax, insure and MOT it.

I think many immigrants buy a car (maybe at an auction), never register it in their own name, so never bother to tax, insure or MOT it.

If they dont get caught it is a years "free" motoring, and they are not the registerted owner anyway.

If they DO get caught it may be a £300 fine (which is less than the cost of a years insurance and they wont pay it anyway).

So if they never insure the car they probably will gain in the long run.

I agree it is the law, and the police should come down hard on them, but it seems they have been getting away with it for years (although the new guy who is head of the met has now started coming down hard on it).

the top 5 on that list have immigrant populations of around 11-12%. proportionally that demonstrates that the indigenous population in those areas are just as likely to drive uninsured. the highest element of uninsured drivers is related to the obvious urban environment rather than race.

Of course they do. Everyone who doesn't pay insurance is going to be better off (until they have an accident). Nonetheless, it's the law. So enforce it. No lessons needed.

pa___ul, have you ever been to China? Spitting is common and accepted there. Eastern Europe has a gobbing problem too.
