christmas cards - what kind of designs would you like to see?
16 Answers
is there anything, any style you wish was more available?
is there something that you have always wished you could buy and send, but can never find in the shops?
what sort is your favourite?
do you prefer funny, traditional, corny, rude, sentimental, sarcastic, glitzy, grumpy humour, educational, cartoon? etc?
thanks

Haven't bought any yet, still trying to decide but I quite like these.

Christmas is a Christian festival, the second holiest time of the Christian calendar. The whole function of a Christmas card is to wish the recipient a happy Christmas - the Christian festival which we all celebrate with time off work, special meals, family gatherings, presents to children as per St. Nicholas etc.
I don't quite see the idea of sending 'non-Christian' Christmas cards to atheists or members of other religions.

Christmas is a Christian festival?
What planet are you on Andy?
Baby Jesus brought presents. Under a pine tree with mistletoe and Holly and Ivy?
Christians stole the old Roman festival but never totally managed to snuff out the old midwinter feasting celebrations and associated symbolism
Easter is Christian yes, but not Christmas it's a mish mash of all sorts - its why I have no time for those whinging about the commercialisation of Christmas.
If people want a solemn Christian festival they have Easter but let's keep our Saturnalia

Easter has has roots there yes but it's date is specifically based on passover and linked to Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.
There's a fair case for it's independance, the themes of rebirth and spring are coincidental
Christmas is an outright steal, it's completely blatent
Plonked straight down over the festival of Sol Invictus/Saturnalia

i like them simple. light humour is also fine.
the current vogue is to send your child in to school with a self drawn christmas drawing/design that gets printed on to all your christmas cards and it says designed by xx of xx school on the back.
my daughter (aged 4) did a very sweet christmas tree with pink tinsel and baubles and some presents at the base. alll her own work. that'll do for me.
