why do people say horse shoes are magic is this a proven fact of life

hello i don't think this is actually true but sometimes people say it just to boost their confidence when doing a show or something important, like a good luck charm. Even though it may not be true it sometimes helps people to be less nervous and stuff. Well thats what i think anyway!!!

I am not too sure why they are lucky but i think it wil be because years ago (olden days) horses used to help people alot in daily life , like travelling and transporting goods so i think they are lucky because without them years ago people would be lost  like us and cars now . that is all i can think of !!!

It is a very old superstition. One way up the horseshoe represents the Devil (curve down, points up) the other way it catches the 'earth/harvest luck' (points down).  It depends which part of the country you live in which superstition is kept - in my area, horseshoes above a door points down are lucky, in Lancashire, it's points up!

Also, blacksmiths/farriers who made the horse shoes (before shoes were made in factories) were thought to be magical healers by the common folk because they were able to heal a horse's lameness and work iron.  There are stories about blacksmiths catching the devil / Old Nickin by the nose in their tongs (used for holding the hot iron)  from all around the world.
