I don't get the joke....................I've never seen anyone dressed like that shopping in Bradford.
If the event is to celebrate multi-culture, then some of the things said are absolutely certain to refer specifically to one culture rather than to another. Calling that "racist" is really stretching the word far too far.
Its not Bradford, it is Bradistan.
Why would it be racist? Because he said Bradford? Would it have been considered racist if he has said Dundee? Think we all need to lighten up a bit.
I don't think racist exactly, anymore so than when we were discussing national costume on here once years ago and I said ( coming from the north of Ireland myself and distinctly tongue in cheek) that our national costume was a balaclava and a kalashnikov. Someone must have taken exception to it because the comment was removed 9 the only one I have ever made that has been I think). I didn't consider it offensive, but someone did, and it's the same with most comments about race, gender, sexuality etc, one person's offence is another person's humour.
I don't see why it would be racist.

If he'd put on something pink and said they weat them to do the shopping in Brighton, would we claim it was sexually discriminatory?

People need to be cautious about seeing discrimination where it's not intended, because other people might suggest that the discrimination existed only in the head of the person who perceived it. Maybe wonder about that one English person whose mind said "racism" ... ! Where did that come from? Is that person's head so full of racism that they see it everywhere?

But, like craft, I don't actually get the joke.
I've got black panties on. Am I racist then?
Hey, me too, DT !

Small world.
Yeah, but who do they belong to DT lol.
but do you go shopping in them?
I got my black panties in Bradford ;-)
I'm not racist - I'm not wearing any
If you bought flesh-coloured panties would they just look wrong on some people?
'Mrs Overall Goes Commando' - I can see Hollywood buying the rights ....
It is a fact that some Muslims wear a burqha to shop in Bradford. Never seen a sparkly one though.
They missed out on Audrey goes to the Goths party though Dave ...
If it's just a headscarf it's hijab, not a burka! - lots of people wear headscarves, including my neighbour.
...is she from Bradford?
I always wondered what Arabs wear under their robes. I found out last night when a gentleman who bore an uncanny resemblence to Demis Roussos stripped his robes off in front of me. A white vest and huge white bloomers which come right down to the knees. Not a pretty sight.
