just read in the news about a primary school cancelling their nativity play in case it offends the muslim students.

Am I missing something here or this the most unbelievable thing I ever heard?? Regardless of the fact that the child may have come from another country of their parents/grandparents have come from another country - they have still come from another country and if our customs and beliefs "offend" them I know where they should go!

Am I alone here?

You can move a show performance but you can't move Eid anymore than you can move Christmas Day. Some people just like to get their knickers in a twist.
"Well, sorry to say but the stupid ends that some folks go to in order not to offend the muslims, really offend ME, this is OUR country, why are we allowing other ethnic groups to take over so we are afraid to be what we are."

You never know, maybe they might even be able to tell the difference between an ethnic group and a religion.

Did NOT happen.
Question Author
and if it wasn't cancelled then Muslims would have been offended?? ........yawn
*bangs head against brick wall*

"and if it wasn't cancelled then Muslims would have been offended?? "

No, they just wouldn't have been there.
Can I suggest you read it properly - it was down to rubbish planning on the part of the school (in that they didn't take into account that some children would be absent).
2008 not 2012,
Postponed until the new Year, not cancelled,
No mention of offending anyone!
I think what you are missing are the 3 points mentioned above!
It's like if your children's school decided to organise sports day on Christmas day, a lot of people would choose not to attend because they have other commitments, that wouldn't mean they were all offended at the idea of sports day!
Exactly, sherrard - some people just post here without reading the attached items first (or even later) and therefore miss the point by a country mile, pig, lamb, whatever.

true of false. The Nativity play didn't happen at Christmas because of Muslims?
I just find it interesting that a post full of outrage at this cancellation of a nativity play offers a link to a 4 year old post in the Daily Mail - a story more about rubbish planning. The play was not cancelled, it was rescheduled.

Why are you so offended by this story now, 4 years after it happened?
Question Author
3rd time, or maybe 4th time now?? ..............irrelivant when it happened, still happened
God you really are flogging a dead horse aren't you - it was POOR PLANNING!
"true of false. The Nativity play didn't happen at Christmas because of Muslims?"

False. it didn't happen due to bad planning.
Question Author
notice how no one actually answered my question? true of false - the nativity play didnt happen at Xmas because of muslims. If someone can please answer this please
//true of false. The Nativity play didn't happen at Christmas because of Muslims?

False poor management by the Head Teacher.
How did you even come across this old article? Were you searching for "offending Muslims"?

well according to the Pope, the bloody Nativity didn't even happen the way it is describe it is pure fantasy, so 4 years on it's irrelevant to the Catholics.

Smoke that one in your bonga.
