Nativity Play Cancelled In Fear Of "offending" Muslims
143 Answers
just read in the news about a primary school cancelling their nativity play in case it offends the muslim students.
Am I missing something here or this the most unbelievable thing I ever heard?? Regardless of the fact that the child may have come from another country of their parents/grandparents have come from another country - they have still come from another country and if our customs and beliefs "offend" them I know where they should go!
Am I alone here?

And, since you brought up the topic - In your OP you claim that this rescheduling (not cancellation, as your OP initially suggested) was, in your words, "The most unbelievable thing you have ever heard" - Really? This incident is more unbelievable than the example you introduced, of Hitler committing the holocaust? How about Mans landing on the Moon? Is that less believable than an administrative mess at one school in one city 4 years ago?
Your OP just seems a hyperbolic seasonal attack on a subset of the population you do not seem to like very much...

I think its you thats out of step Richie. Attempting to generate seasonal outrage against one particular subset of the population, using a link to a story about an admin error in one school in one part of the UK 4 years ago.
And the hyperbole of the original post and the adherence to Godwins Law show your argument to be essentially a thinly disguised rant against one subset of the population....

You purposely chose an emotive 'story' from the 1940's rather than an event from 2008 to illustrate your point that the nativity 'story' was relevant even if it was 4 years old. You could have chosen any number of events from 2008 but you chose not to. You either appreciate the affect of what you are posting as emotive or you are not overly bright.
I'm sure this is an urban myth, like when Birmingham city council decided to have 'Winterval' instead of Christmas that was supposed to be so it didn't upset cetain people of the community, and it wasn't the case. Jesus, as a prohet is mentioned in the Koran, as is the Angel Gabriel - so why would they be offended? Eid, like Easter or Ramadan are movable - this year Eid was in the last week of October, and I've never heard of a school putting on the Nativity in October.
