61 Answers
i am asking out of curiosity why people get involve in football hooligans as most of them are your typical teenage scally wags, most of em are old men in there 40s 50s and even 60s (well most of the old ones are mainly leaders and organizers)

I read something about it that suggested the possibility that these were men who lived very buttoned down lives during the week with very stressful jobs and there was an attraction to doing something more 'primitive'. It could all have been a lot of rubbish mind you...
as a old friend of the family told me, just because that guy is in his 60s it dosent mean he cant still have a row and besides being in your 60s is not even old.
he knew a guy who was about 65 years old who is a nasty old bastard, he put two bodybuiders aged 20s or 30s in hospital in a street fight.
but when i say old men in their 40s etc that is cos its old compared to me.

Where is your evidence of firms having fights away from the stadiums? I'm a Chelsea fan and the only trouble I've ever known away from the stadium was about 4 years ago , in a pub in Fulham, but there was no evidence of organisation or planning or any 'firms'. It was just an impromptu brawl.
If these firms exist, it's surprising that lifelong soccer fans and the press are not aware of them. If you were describing the 80s, I'd be the first to agree with you. Back then, even Cambridge United had a firm; they once lured rival fans down a side street by saying it was the way to the station and murdered one of them
