Could be that the best view of Birmingham is from inside it. looking out, because you can't see the building! It looks fine. People will come round to liking it in time. That happens to new buildings; Tower Bridge, for example, was disliked by critics and a good many of the public when it was new

I live in Birmingham and go up to the city centre a lot to photograph buildings and on going building projects.

I did not like the building when I first saw the drawings, and as it has gone up I still don't like it.

I have TRIED to like it, but just cant bring myself to like it.

To me its nothing more than a few boring square boxes stuck one on top of the other, with an awful metal fretwork covering on the outside.

I think the lack of visible windows from the outside makes it look rather soul less.

I don't think I will ever like it, though I cant wait for them to knock down the old library and redevelop the whole area.

the British Library doesn't have windows either; you're probably not meant to look at books in daylight in case the words fade. But what's the actual problem? Is something wrong with the one they've got? (Lack of computer cabling space and so forth?)

Birmingham has to lead the world in crap architecture- have you seen the college on the Old Rover works VHG? It looks like the Titanic has run aground and been sprayed gold :(
