In our everyday lives we encounter so many different scenarios? To what extent does the Bible influence your character and judgment?

I don't find any part of it inspiring. There are some interesting bits and a few nice stories, but nothing inspirational.
/I understand and emphasise with multiple other Religions/ perhaps you coud try a little harder and empathise with atheists. If it wasn't for them you believers would be killing each other more than you already are.
It inspired me to be an atheist.
im 56 never read it and i aint gonna start now!!
It put me off when I got to the bit were it say's 'Thou Shalt Not Covet Your Neighbours Ass' .
An ass isn't a goat, tony? You should be fine;-)
Ohhhhh I might become religious then, pixie ;-)
I have an ass for you x
Lets have a look then, pixie.
That goes to the Google home page for me, pixie.
pixie;
Could it be your comments comes cheap and you really don't know the bible at all? Just wondering.
Please see my post; page 2, 22:10 Mon.
I've read it through a couple of times, khandro. Once at school, in depth.
Ah no. I have my own spirit- i don't need stories.
I went to an RC school. Taught solely by nuns. They were extremely cruel to us kids, and as we progressed young adults. So had we all taken lessons from their teachings then we would all be fighting holy wars. All religious books should be banned in school. When you reach 18 then it's your choice which path you choose but please don't drum it in to the children.
The bit that has always fascinated me is the "Suffer little children to come unto me " ( Luke 18:16)

And how they have suffered over the years !...the Christian God must be knee-deep in suffering little children by now.
jeza; I agree, children should not be indoctrinated, they are easy prey, that's why the Jesuits say “Give me the child until he is seven and I’ll give you the man”, a quote attributed to St. Francis Xavier.
But you haven't answered the question. A book which has had so much effect on so many millions of people for such a long time, must have something going for it, every bit of it can't be bad, entirely wrong and uninspiring, despite what some ill-informed atheistic bigots would have you believe.
Khandro, just so that you know, most of the atheists who contribute to the discussions on religion around here are not ill-informed, nor are they bigots. Many of them are atheists because they have taken the time and trouble to ask questions and to become informed. The reason the book is so popular is because for the past 2000 years or thereabouts it has been shoved down the throats of most of the western world from birth. As you say, “Give me the child until he is seven and I’ll give you the man.”
