Is He Being British Or He Just Dont Want To Go To Second Date With Me?
34 Answers
So I met this guy on tinder, he's British and without further a do, he asked me out for a drink in the next evening, and i said yes.
he picked a nice restaurant&bar, my favorite actually.
we had couple of drinks before he must go, because someone called him, and he replied 'i'll be there in couple of minutes'.
at first, the waiter asked if him if he wanted to open tab, and he said yes. so when the bill came, to my own regret, i didn't offer him to pay, because (and this is my only justification) the waiter went straight to him immediately when settling the bill.
I'm not British, but whenever I go on a date, i always offer to pay for the bill. so I got confuse about the whole keep the tab open and who would pay.
He walked me home, and i said thank you for the night, and thanks for the drinks. i kissed him on both cheeks, and then he left. right after i walked in my flat, i got a text from him that say he had fun, and it was nice to see me and put an x at the end of it.
to which i only replied with likewise but i also added an x.
before we met for a drink, he suggested me to add his facebook, which i politely decline because sharing a social media with someone you don't know is a bit privacy-is-dead-situation for me.
the next day came, and he didn't sent me text or anything. i added his fb and he has not approved.
do brit guys play the three-day rules or something? i mean, if he really had fun, then why wouldn't he suggest for another meeting?
is he simply putted off by me who didn't do dancing cheque by offering to pay the bill?
and last question, this is a bit embarrassing for me to ask actually. whenever I went out on a first date with a guy, when we said goodnight, they always kiss me on the lips. nothing over the top, just a normal polite kiss on the lips.
and with this Brit guy, we did not kiss lips. was he being polite? or he was not just physically attracted to me?
i know that my questions might sound silly, but i'm not british, and i'm just confused about the dating rule here.
thank you in advance for your replies xx

I'd be glad he was kind and polite, and didn't expect anything more after paying for your dinner. Wait and see what happens, don't contact him again or he'll think you're chasing him.

I'm from Sweden, we usually just exchange glances in bar/club then have sex immediately, and if the guy want to pursue it further, then he will text the next day. it's very common if we sleep with someone and then have a 'date' afterwards instead of the other way around. that's why i asked about it in this forum x
Reading this,it would seem Swede's are fairly conservative...

I'd leave it and see if he contacts you. It's pretty common on blind dates to get one of your friends to call you with a pretend emergency, so if you aren't having a good time you have an excuse to leave. Sorry to say, it sounds like this has happened to you. If it was a genuine emergency and he does like you, he will contact you.
