A Jan 1 1946 date is arbitrary. A friend argued that he was the first BB because he was born 14 May 1946, nine months to the day after the end of WW2.

Thanks folks. I remain uncertain. If you think about it then one has several thousand men who haven't for a while and just released on the women of UK on VE day or before ie 8 May 1945. So 9 months later hey presto the first baby boomer. So is it someone born tail end December 1945? Dunno. I might ask the CoI. I'm certain a TV channel will do a programme sooner or later!
