Why Would Anyone Want To Go Naked In Public?

I’m not really talking about this particular case – just trying to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of why anyone would want to go naked in public.

It is an amazing feeling to be totally naked in the open air, just as nature intended us to be. I used to go regularly to a naturist beach, totally freeing, I love it. My first time on the beech, I wandered onto it by accident when I was new to the area. To me it was the most natural thing in the world to get my kit off. As for walking the streets naked, I would if it was legal, it isn't anything sexual or perverted, it is just totally natural and freeing.

It's an outrageous decision.

It means that, if a particular culture decides that certain body parts should be covered up, the courts will support that decision.

Anybody who says that certain parts of the body should be freely exposed will be held up to abuse and ridicule.

It's obviously time to stop moaning about the burka.

The more I think about it, the more I think this legal decision is similar to Islamic extremism.

You WILL cover up you (face/willy) in public ...

... because OUR culture wants them covered up.

Muslims coming here and hiding their faces is no different from us going to an African village and hiding our boobs and genitals.

Imagine if we started trying to impose our own cultural prejudices on the African villagers ... get some clothes on, you damn natives!

Well, this decision is exactly the same. It is the conceited view that our culture is the the "correct" culture, and everyone else is wrong.

If you cover MORE up, like the Muslims ... you are wrong.

If you cover LESS up, like this chap ... you are wrong.

Just who the heck do we think we are? We don't rule the world. But we seem to be acting as if we do.

I actually find it more strange why people want to keep covered up all the time, especially when on the beech! I accept that it is practical to wear clothing most of the time but at other times and when the weather permits, let it all go!!! Nothing natural about covering ourselves purely for modesty reasons.

Whilst never having been to a nudist beach or naturist venue I'd probably concur with RATTER.
The last few times I've been on holiday in France ive done quite a bit of skinny dipping when being the last swimmer in the pool and have to say I've found it rather invigorating. The loss of restriction is rather liberating IMHO.

The issue with the burka is very different because it's a cultural restriction placed on only some people in society (women). Social attitudes to public nudity apply to everyone so it's not discriminatory.

But the burka isn't really just security issue. Anywhere you need to see the face, there are arrangements to check. If you have a weapon, it will be down by your body, not on your face.

The original issue with the burka was that Muslim women should not be forced to cover their faces. We do not support any culture that imposes arbitrary rules about covering parts of the body in public, just because that particular culture says they should be covered.
