My daughter is hoping to get married over the next 12 months. Any input as to cost, pros and cons of a marquee wedding and what to look for when searching. Any input gratefully received as I have no idea what to look for! Thank yo, Bramley.

I would go for the floor option as well. They often install a simple mat type floor for the tables, and a separate hardwood floor for the disco & dancing.
Also, make sure they include for routing a power supply to it as well. I've played at a couple of weddings that were almost ruined because no one had thought of power for the band/disco/lighting.
I had to break into one house on one occasion to plug in somewhere ...... just as they were coming up the road from the Church.......... :o(

Our youngest daughter got married last August and we had 14 months notice. First they decided to have a register office ceremony and a self catered hall of some kind. What they eventually decided on was a package from a hotel. They sorted everything from ceremony to reception to evening buffet. It wasn't cheap, over £6,000, but it was lovely and less stress for us! As my son in laws parents were divorced, they both contributed towards the cost as did we and my daughter and son in law. Most hotels do packages and they can be as low as £1000. It all dependon your budget.
Kathyan, thank you. That is what I wanted to know. We live in Wiltshire and venues are few and far between and quite tired! The final straw today was the fact that they charge £6.50 per bottle corkage! On top of any decent wine that really pushes the price up. Also the wine they supply starts at about £15.00 a bottle. It all seems a rip off! Anyway, thank you.
The venue we used also does just the reception and evening 'do'. But then you have to factor in the cost of cars to and from church/register office to the venue. As I said it worked out cheaper that we booked the whole package because it included photographer, evening DJ and they also provided table decorations (which we added to) a secure post box for cards etc and even a cake stand and knife! I've never seen my daughter smile as much as she did that day and I hope your daughter has a lovely day whatever you decide to do. x
