Are Pakistani Muslims Trapped In A Life Of Drudgery?
31 Answers
There are large pockets of these people in the town where I live and from the outside they never seem to enjoy themselves. The women spend all their lives cooking, cleaning, washing and shopping at their local shops, never going anywhere else. The young men are supposedly not allowed to drink, have sex before marriage, go on dates and have to wait until they are found a bride by their elders. They never seem to go on holiday, have weekends away. All they ever do is hang around where they live day after day. Of course then they see us doing all these things and having a really good time, especially the younger ones. Are they being suppressed by their religion? Is it a case of, because of their own boring lives, they want us to live in the same religious straight jacket? What are people's thoughts?

If you do not want to do that and integrate and are still bored then clear off back to the filth you left behind in your country of origin.
Apart from those thoughts I couldn't give a toss about the ennui of Pakistani muslims.

It's deceptively easy to for a potentially erroneous impression of any culture from a surface analysis.
That equally applies to any culture – many countries’ populations think all Americans are right-wing gun carriers with nice teeth and a love of invading foreign countries. Or the British, with their miserable weather, rigid social class system, terrible food and drunken hooligans. And the Italians, with their greasy lothario men, and their big-bottomed women who shout a lot.
But impressions are just that – they reveal nothing of the reality of the way people live, or indeed their happiness and security in living a lifestyle that is familiar and safe for them.
So I wouldn’t worry too much about Muslims not having fun, or more accurately not appearing to have fun – they simply live in a different way to us.

What! and give up the benefit?
Call for a plumber and a Pole might turn up, but you'll wait a long time before one of those chaps dressed in a nightie and wearing a silly hat appears at your door.
What do they do all day? I wish it was a required question of all TV interviewers, when I hear some of these guys sounding off, to ask "How do you make a living?"

Where I live around one third of the locals seem to be of Pakistani heritage. The women always seem to be jumping in their 4x4s/BMWs and driving off somewhere- okay they are often dropping kids off at school but apart from that I have no idea where they are going and I don't think it matters But I must admit i have noticed that I only ever see groups or women or groups of men. I saw some sort of gathering at one large house and there were big signs up saying Men entrance and Women entrance. But I'm not sure this necessarily means the women are unhappy
