Should German Women Dress More Modestly?
75 Answers
Cologne's mayoress says yes.
Her argument is that foreign cultural attitudes may see a short skirt or a low-cut blouse as an invitation to rape.
Do the clever people who understand modern morality see the difficulty morons like me have in trying to reconcile the apparent contradictions?

There is never any excuse for rape. How girls dress is not an invitation.

“The mayoress's statement is a bit like saying 'can you try to look a bit less like food' after letting a pride of lions roam the streets. A 'cure' for a problem that really shouldn't exist.”
It’s strange you should make such an analogy, Zacs. Some months ago (can’t remember when and I’m not going to search for the question now) the issue of terrorists in our midst was aired. I suggested that although all Muslims are certainly not terrorists it seems that all current terrorists are Muslims. I went on to suggest that, although all tigers may not attack humans many of them do so it might be wise to prevent all tigers from roaming amongst us just to be on the safe side. I extended this to encompass the Muslims who may blow us up or chop off our heads. (The issue of “cultural misunderstanding” had not reared its head in any meaningful way, bar the disgraceful episodes such as child grooming by Muslim men in northern England). Predictably I was howled down with the usual accusations of bigotry and Islamaphobia. But it is pleasing to note that you are thinking along the same lines.
Alas this problem was bound to arise. Mainland Europe has seen the influx of hundreds of thousands of young, single Muslim men in a very short space of time. In their societies the genders are strictly segregated. Males and females are kept apart and only meet under rigid supervision. The women they do see are covered from head to foot and the only women they see who are not swaddled in sackcloth are their sisters and their mothers. Apart from them they have never seen a female ankle in their lives. Worse than that they are led to believe that women who do not clothe themselves in this way are prostitutes. Then they arrive in Europe where things are a little more relaxed. The only surprise is that the outrages that occurred in Cologne and elsewhere did not happen before.
European governments stand accused of betraying their citizens by allowing this invasion of aliens to occur. They have allowed this mix of cultures to envelope their societies and now they are looking for ways to excuse their betrayal. They have been irresponsible beyond belief and the greatest scandal of all is that none of them will be held to account and people like the dopey Mayor of Cologne are now expecting the settled population – particularly their women – to make adjustments to their lifestyles to accommodate this clash.

I have learnt that Sweden holds the record for welcoming immigrants in the past and they are a very liberal caring/sharing people. I thought they were smart. Always kept neutral and made a lot of dosh for supplying ore to combatants in other World conflicts. Now they are giving lessons to start the first War they have experienced since God knows when!!

Cologne's Mayoress ain't on the same planet As the resat of us.
The way a girl dresses is her decision. I'm a bloke and I like to see a pretty girl dressed to look lovely. A short skirt and a low cut top does not sat 'come and rape me!' It says 'I am proud of my looks.' Nothing wrong with that at all.
