She is on record as making this statement:
"We live in a country which ordinary people are frightened to speak their minds, frightened that they might say the "wrong thing". This is a dangerous situation for any society. A frightened population which cannot say what it thinks is a population under tyrannical control.
Furthermore, this widespread fear has resulted in a fearful and politicised police force that is more concerned by what is "correct" than with prosecuting crimes"
Is she correct? Is the UK public less inclined to speak out and now more apathetic with our politicians leaving a hopeless vacuum and therefore as a nation we are more vulnerable?

It's that simple.//
You’re telling no one anything they don’t already know. We know it’s that simple, and no one is suggesting that those words be used in an abusive way towards anyone, but it’s utterly ridiculous to substitute words with letters in conversations where such terms are being discussed. We’re all obliged to behave like a bunch of children hinting a swear words. I’d guarantee that whenever those initials are used the words themselves run through the readers’ or the listeners’ minds so we’re not erasing them from our vocabularies – we’re simply hiding them because we’re afraid to say them openly. Potty!
Togo, //How did naomi get the word through and it was blocked for me?//
I just typed it, pressed submit, and it appeared. Sorry to accuse you of being politically correct if you’re not. When you described the word as the sound a goose makes I assumed you didn’t want to type it.

ag, one could almost believe that Orwell’s ‘Ministry of Truth’ had been at work there. The title of that book was changed to ‘Ten Little Indians’ and then when that became politically incorrect another re-think was called for. Very sensibly the powers that be appear to have decided that the obvious alternative, ‘Ten Little Native Americans’, didn’t quite flow and so plumped for ‘And then there were none’. ;o)
