Respond to what?
It's just a playful 'I'm here ' gesture
People poke their friends or friends of friends on Facebook for a lot of reasons (ex: just saying hello, getting their attention). When you poke someone, they'll receive a notification.
Oh, I always believed that someone was proposing to me.....................you ruined it all.
keyplus - if only life was that much fun. :-D

I admit to being confused as to the point of 'poke' - there are other ways of getting in touch with people. It is all too confusing at times.
I don't think people poke as much now. It used to be a way of letting people know you're thinking of them. Now, it has to be a like on one of their posts.
