over the last 2>>3 months on AB posts regarding the Jungle & the people trying to force their way into Trucks mainly to get into the UK, with comments from many members on here including myself, do you honestly think we are racist or is this a serious problem? my concern are the NHS, Housing that we don't have, people with no papers, where they are from & what backgrounds do they have, we have enough villains within the UK as it is. what are your views?

I don't think all people with concerns are racist. Some are though.
Project Diversity needs a good mix at all levels if it's to succeed. Imagine the outcry if prisons were full of home grown criminals, denying opportunity for those from abroad struggling to make a mark in their adopted soft touch.
I am sure most, if not all, of us will be glad to see the back of the Calais Jungle and hope the French can make this work. It was a nightmare for drivers and no doubt for local residents too. There's no racism in that at all for me. The EU needs to find a way to stem the tide from Africa etc and sort out how to deal with asylum requests properly.
Of course you do get silly comments on threads like this though and those who are obsessed/ignorant/bitter about other cultures will jump at the chance to make their views known on any threads which touch on migrants and particularly Muslims
I'd agree. Most won't be racist. As a country we are prepared to offer international aid, but it's simply common sense not to cave in to those seeking to use circumstances to try to force more than we wish to offer. A nation can not progress if it allows anyone who wishes to get the same as the target nation's citizens get to just come in. It's not a 'free for all'. We only have so many resources, we offer what we can and what we agree is reasonable. We are also aware of cultural differences causing problems so take that into account but the race of an individual is not a relevant factor.
I think there is a wide variety of views posted here on Answerbank.

Some racist, some realist, some homophobic, some atheist, some God bothering, some just way off the planet.

Part and parcel of a forum.

But!!! Reading the comments from the other side of the world Alf Garnett and Eddie Booth do come to mind from a large number of posters, well, maybe not a large number, but very vociferous they are ;-/

That's the Brit sense of humor as you know OZ, but now it's gone way out of proportion, you dare not say anything in a joke from the "Whites" side in case we offend, but I found from my own experience, it works "One Way"
Same here Twr, can't tell a joke about well tanned people or those with a different sexual preference, handicap etc. But the rest are comedy fodder these days ;-/

And life goes on.
This site is strictly censored, some may say far too strictly.

So I would presume any real racist comments would be removed forthwith.
In my humble opinion, AOG, 'racism' in posts is often in the eye/mind of the beholder.
An illegal immigrant can throw metal bars/bricks at passing vehicles thus risking lives and recieve no critism. A poster can bring up the topic of the violent actions of the illegal immigrant and he/she has to endure veiled accusations of being a racist.

Realism doesn't seem to have a place on Answerbank.

In agree with Talbot. Wasn't going to post on this topic as I rarely post on anything in News, but as this is Chatterbank I shall add my two 'pennorth ;)

I am not aware of anyone one here who has condoned such action, Talbot, so I am not sure what point you are trying to make

Utter drivel
No, I don’t think people who, like you, me, and many others here, are concerned about the negative effects that immigration has on this country are racist. They’re sensibly realistic. Immigration is not a bad thing, but we simply can't accept all and sundry and neither should we try. We need to be more selective.
Couldn't have put it better myself naomi.
aaaand Baths the threadkiller strikes again :)
