Whatever happened to British culture?
Is it completely dead or terminal?
Can it ever be revived, or do we need to adapt to the new foreign landscape?

I think a lot of our culture and traditions have been erradicated through the the extremism of political correctness and #metoo!

You are both speaking as though British culture is a fixed and immutable thing and standard across the whole of Britain, neither of which are true or ever have been true.

I was doing no such thing, Woofgang. I just think it's a shame that British traditions are dying out because someone is always offended by one thing or another.

The other week some mother was campaigning, nay crusading, to have Sleeping Beauty banned because the sleeping princess didn't consent to being kissed.

I think it's going a bit far to say that the recent #metoo has been a key factor behind the erradication of our culture and traditions. Just in a few months?
Although some aspects of culture remain fairly constant or change very slowly others will change. This has always been the case but the rate of change has probably increased. We are now much closer to the rest of the world in that people travel much further and we can follow news from almost anywhere in the world or see TV programmes/films from all ove rthe world and are influenced more by other cultures as a result.

Snow White is a c19 Germanic fairy tale, NoM. Which kinda makes a point about the OP. Trying to define British Culture will only serve to highlight how much of it has been absorbed from other countries cultures. It’s like trying to nail jelly to a wall.

Many of our Christmas traditions are either German or Nordic. Have a google about Prince Albert and his influence on Christmas. Next!

There were 'bandwagons' in the 20th century too- eg votes for women, pacifists, campaigns to legalise homosexuality. And before that - trade union rights, Tolpuddle Martyrs....

I bet, though, you could wax lyrical about "other" cultures........one in particular perhaps. That is where we are going wrong. We allow the gainsayers and denigrators free voice to be as spiteful as they like, without reply. That will need to change.
