Argument does not mean quarrel, it means rational discussion to arrive at a conclusion. Here are some bad arguments - (1) It's the economy, stupid. (2) Read my lips. (3) Get a life. (4) Project fear. (5) It's in the Bible/Koran so it must be true. The list goes on........

I'll state again. "It's the economy, stupid" is an established phrase. The one used in the OP. Not "stupid" which is just a word.
Atheist - I accept you are a new ABer, and welcome you.
I am interested though, as I am sure others are, why you are an atheist?
I am sure your reasoning will boost the atheism of others on here, and give believers something to consider.
Please provide some enlightenment?

Hello, Theland, and thanks for welcoming me. To me, it seems obvious that god was created in the image of man and not vice versa. Once you open yourself to that concept, everything falls into place. Best wishes.
Question Author
For example, the god of the old testament was a complete and utter ***. You will obey and worship me. You will not worship other gods. That comes from the need to keep tribal loyalty and unity. The god of the old testament demanded sacrifice of animals and humans. The god of the aztecs demanded the same. The god of the Jews demanded the same. These were demands not from a loving creator, but from mad prophets and seers. That's what I make of it. I doubt you would agree, unless I produced a book that god had dictated to me. And even then you'd probably suspect that it wasn't authentic. That's what I suspect of all the other old books.
Just one point. God demanded human sacrifice?
That's new.
Explain?
Question Author
God (OT God - male and ferocious) ordered Abraham to sacrifice his son, Jacob. He also ordered the slaughter of the Midianites (sparing only the young women).
I don't care why the OP is an atheist.
Atheist. Context. You have a lot to learn. With respect.

He also told Lot to save the virtue of His angels by persuading the homosexual mob outside Lot's house in Sodom to rape Lot's daughters instead of raping the angels. Lovely God! Is that the work of an all powerful and loving creator, or the work of an early tribe with misogynistic customs?
Question Author
The. Do you believe the OT literally? If not, why not? Is it because you have your own ideas of morality? That would be good. It would also demonstrate that you have goodness within you, not 'goodness' dictated by some old book.
Question Author
Sorry. I need to crash out. I'll try to be back tomorrow. Let's all leave as friends, each with our own views. Thanks for your opinions.
Friends indeed. Refreshing.
Lots daughters? Yes. That says a lot about Lot doesn't it? Look deeper into it.
I don’t recall God telling Lot to offer his daughters to the mob, but after having done so that God held Lot to be a righteous man must call God’s moral principles into question.
The Monty Python argument sketch.
Atheist: You make a distinction between the Old Testament God and the Jewish God. Is there a reason for that?
Question Author
JF. I don't think I referred to a Jewish god. The OT belongs to both Christians and Jews, doesn't it? Of course, the OT god is so nasty that most Christians brush away that side of the bible as being symbolic or something. Jewish people, I am sure, will have their own way of coping with the contents of the OT. Good people who read the bible will agree with some of it and dislike a lot of it. Unfortunately there's lots of ammo for bad people, e.g. those who would love to kill all non-believers. Similar comments could be made about the Q'ran.
Question Author
Sorry, I did refer to the god of the Jews.
Atheist.You are only partly right:-
