Argument does not mean quarrel, it means rational discussion to arrive at a conclusion. Here are some bad arguments - (1) It's the economy, stupid. (2) Read my lips. (3) Get a life. (4) Project fear. (5) It's in the Bible/Koran so it must be true. The list goes on........

For example, the god of the old testament was a complete and utter ***. You will obey and worship me. You will not worship other gods. That comes from the need to keep tribal loyalty and unity. The god of the old testament demanded sacrifice of animals and humans. The god of the aztecs demanded the same. The god of the Jews demanded the same. These were demands not from a loving creator, but from mad prophets and seers. That's what I make of it. I doubt you would agree, unless I produced a book that god had dictated to me. And even then you'd probably suspect that it wasn't authentic. That's what I suspect of all the other old books.
JF. I don't think I referred to a Jewish god. The OT belongs to both Christians and Jews, doesn't it? Of course, the OT god is so nasty that most Christians brush away that side of the bible as being symbolic or something. Jewish people, I am sure, will have their own way of coping with the contents of the OT. Good people who read the bible will agree with some of it and dislike a lot of it. Unfortunately there's lots of ammo for bad people, e.g. those who would love to kill all non-believers. Similar comments could be made about the Q'ran.
